Class 7 Maths Integers Extra Questions For Practice

IMPORTANT QUESTIONS FOR CBSE EXAMINATION | CLASS 7 MATHEMATICS
INTEGERS – Chapter 1

Answer the following (2 marks):

1. Verify a – (-b) = a + b for the following values of a and b.

i) a = 15, b = 9
ii) a = 75, b = 55

2. Use the sign >, <, or = to make the statements true.

i) (-6) + (-4) …………… (-6) – (-4)
ii) (-2) + 6 – (12) ……………….. 14 – 9 + (-8)

3. Write down a pair of integers whose

i) Sum is -4
ii) Difference is -6

4. Fill in the blanks to make the following statements true:

i) (-3) + (-7) = (-7) + ——–
ii) -65 + ——- = -65
iii) 23 + ——— = 0
iv) [12 + (-4)] + —- = 12 + [(-4) + (-7)]

5. Find each of the following products:

i) (-65) x (-10) x 9
ii) (-20) x (-2) x (-3) x (5)

6. Find each of the following products:

i) (-12) x 0 x (-56)
ii) (-654) x 1
iii) (-1) x (-2) x (-3) x (-4)

7. Determine the integer whose product with (-1) is

i) -26
ii) 26
iii) 0

8. Find the product using suitable properties:

i) 25 x (-42) + (-42) x (-35)
ii) 25 x (-76) x 4

9. Simplify

i) 35 – (2 x 5) + 15
ii) -25 x 102

10. Write a pair of negative integers whose difference gives 6.

ANSWERS:

1. i) a = 15, b= 9
LHS = a – (-b) = 15 – (-9) = 15 + 9 = 24
RHS = a + b = 15 + 9 = 24.
Both are equal, so verified.
ii) a = 75, b = 55
LHS = a – (-b) = 75 – (-55) = 75 + 55 = 130
RHS = a + b = 75 + 55 = 130.
Both are equal, so verified.

2. i) (-6) + (-4) = -10
(-6) – (-4) = -6 + 4 = -2
So (-6) + (-4) < (-6) – (-4)
ii) (-2) + 6 – (12) = -2 + 6 + (-12) = (-14) + 6 = -8
14 – 9+ (-8) = 14 + (-9) + (-8) = 14 + (-17) = -3
So (-2) + 6 – (12) < 14 – 9 + (-8)

3. i) -1 and -3
ii) -10 and -4

4. i) (-3) + (-7) = (-7) + (-3)
ii) -65 + 0 = -65
iii) 23 + (-23) = 0
iv) [12 + (-4)] + (-7) = 12 + [(-4) + (-7)]

5 i) (-65) x (-10) x 9 = 5850
ii) (-20) x (-2) x (-3) x 5 = -600

6. i) (-12) x 0 x (-56) = 0
ii) (-654) x 1 = -654
iii) (-1) x (-2) x (-3) x (-4) = 24

7. i) -1 x 26 = -26
ii) -1 x -26 = 26
iii) -1 x 0 = 0

8. i) 25 x (-42) + (-42) x (-35) = (-42) x [25 + (-35)] = (-42) x (-10) = 420
ii) 25 x (-76) x 4 = 25 x 4 x (-76) = 100 x (-76) = -7600

9. i) 35 – (2 x 5) + 15 = 35 – 10 + 15 = 35 + (-10) + 15 = 50 + (-10) = 40
ii) -25 x 102 = -25 x (100 + 2) = -25 x 100 + -25 x 2 = -2500 + -50 = -2550.

10. -6 and -12
(-6) – (-12) = (-6) + 12 = 6
